Mental Health Support Specialist

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Individual, Group and Family Supportive Guidance - Interventions designed to help students and/or families build strengths, develop and maintain pro-social and adaptive behaviors.

  • Case Staffing and Consultation - Conferring with interdisciplinary team and/or other professional(s) regarding cases.

  • Coordination of Health and Human Service Linkages - Providing information and referrals to resources within the school or mental health resources within the community.

  • Case Management - Providing case management services to address the needs of students referred for a variety of mental health, emotional, developmental, behavioral and/or social problems.

  • Community Outreach - Collaborating with mental health and/or social service partners.

  • Collaboration with CIS Student Support Manager at school site to coordinate service delivery.

  • Conferring with CIS Student Support Manager - monthly progress reports, consultations and case staffing.

  • Documentation of service delivery contacts.

  • Maintenance of case folders for targeted students.


  • Mental Health License or License Eligible required

  • Two years of related work experience required

  • Valid Texas Driver License and proof of liability insurance

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work with multiple levels of supervision within CIS and the school

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Data Management systems

  • Experience working with youth preferably in a school setting

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to meet short and long term deadlines
