Chief Partnerships Officer
Kathryn Medina is a dedicated and passionate professional with a strong background in education, social work, and nonprofit leadership. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Baylor University and earned her Master of Science in Nonprofit Administration from Louisiana State University-Shreveport. Kathryn began her career in education, teaching junior high Spanish and coaching girls’ volleyball, basketball, and track in Katy ISD. Her commitment to youth development and community engagement deepened during her time teaching social studies at a bilingual international school in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where she discovered her passion for social work and community development.
Since joining Communities In Schools (CIS) of Houston in 2009, Kathryn has served in multiple impactful roles, including Student Support Manager at Cullen Middle School and Benavidez Elementary in HISD, and Northbrook Middle School in SBISD. Her campus-based work allowed her to cultivate strong relationships and build meaningful community partnerships. Kathryn later transitioned to the Central Office team, where she served for four years as Executive Assistant and Board Liaison, supporting the CEO, Board of Directors, and Executive Leadership Team. One of her proudest accomplishments is the creation of Achieve and Empower U, a program designed to provide new employees with ongoing support and mentorship throughout their onboarding journey.
Outside of work, Kathryn enjoys traveling, creating art in various forms, spending quality time with her family, and embracing the joys of motherhood.
