CIS works closely with community volunteers to meet the needs of its students and their families. Each year, almost 2,000 volunteers for CIS provide thousands of hours of service worth more than 2.25 million dollars to help empower kids to stay in school.
CIS has ongoing volunteer opportunities in many elementary, middle and high schools, as well as in its Central Office.
Volunteer opportunities include…

Be a positive role model for a student! Mentors support academic success, career exploration, and personal development by building meaningful one-on-one relationships.
Story Stars Reading Program
Help children discover the joy of reading! Volunteers are paired with students to read aloud, discuss stories, and grow vocabulary in a fun, supportive setting.
Kind Words, Bright Futures (Encouraging Notes Program)
Spread kindness from home! Volunteers write cheerful, motivational notes that inspire students and are shared during school.
One-Time Events
Make a difference through single-day opportunities like campus beautification projects, serving as a guest speaker, or helping with a special school activity.
Host a Donation Drive
Support students by organizing a collection of needed items such as hygiene products, school supplies, uniforms, coats, or shoes.
