This year’s national campaign, “In Every Story, There’s Strength,” highlights the power of personal stories to foster connection, understanding, and hope.

For 46 years, CIS has championed student well-being, placing mental health at the core of its mission. Since launching its Mental Health Initiative (MHI) 13 years ago, CIS has grown to become the largest school-based provider of mental health services in Harris County.

Knitting Together a Framework for School-Wide Support at Clemente Martinez Elementary School in Houston ISD

CIS was asked to join Clemente Martinez Elementary School for the 2022-2023 school year as part of Houston Independent School District’s RISE Initiative. Our CIS Student Support Manager, Diana, was excited to enter a new campus and begin laying down the foundation for CIS services for her students, teachers, and families. When she arrived to the campus she discovered that parent involvement was low, largely due in part to 2 full years of normal campus activities disrupted by the pandemic.
