Mobile Mental Health Specialist

Job Summary:

The Mobile Mental Health (MMH) Specialist will report to identified CIS campuses, as needed, to provide brief therapeutic interventions to students and families. The MMH Specialist will receive referrals from CIS Student Support Managers within the assigned feeder pattern. 

 Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

1.       Collaboration with Student Support Managers

  • Gather recommendations from Student Support Managers (SSMs) to identify students targeted for mobile mental health support.

  • Engage in weekly case staffings with CIS Student Support Managers to seek input and discuss student progress.

  • Partner with Student Support Manager to communicate student progress and updates to family members. 

2.       Case Consultation with Campus Staff

  • In partnership with Student Support Managers, consult with campus staff as appropriate. 

3.       Comprehensive Mental Health Assessments

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments with targeted students and families.

4.       Intervention Planning and Provision

  • Create brief-solution focused intervention plans by engaging both students and families.

  • Provide individual, family, and group counseling interventions for targeted students.

  • Monitor and document student progress toward goals.

5.       Crisis Intervention 

  • Offer crisis intervention during critical situations at designated CIS campuses in collaboration with Student Support Managers as needed.

  • Consult with the Director of Mental Health and Wellness to prepare for intervention.

  • Utilize Psychological First Aid Model to support students and families.

6.       Training

  • Implement trainings in areas relevant to CIS Mobile Mental Health Service Model.

7.       Evaluation of Program Effectiveness

8.       Administrative Duties

  • Manage a timecard

  • Attend all meetings and trainings as required  

  • Complete required documentation 

  • Attend all meetings as required 

9.       Other duties as assigned. 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • ·Valid Texas Driver License.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Knowledge of brief solution-focused and other interventions

  • Ability to articulate program goals in a public setting

  • Ability to work with multiple levels of supervision within CIS and the school

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to meet short- and long-term deadlines

  • Computer skills: MS Word, Internet Explorer

  • Proof of auto liability insurance

  • Have reliable transportation

  • Proof of Professional License

  • All new and rehires must pass a background test, and verification of information provided. (This may include but not limited to assigned school district pre-approval hiring procedures)

  • Staff will adhere to the campus schedule unless otherwise indicated and verified by the CIS Department of Human Resources.

 Education and Experience:

  • Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, LMFT-A, LPC, LPC-A).

  • Four years of related experience

  • Experience with distinct populations and a variety of environments 

  • Experience working with children and families preferably in a school setting 

 Work Environment:

  • Employee is regularly required to adjust to various office spaces within multiple school campuses

  • Travel is required between multiple school campuses in the Greater Houston area daily.

 Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds at times.

  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, work on computer, think clearly, and communicate effectively.

 Compensation and Benefits:

Base Pay:             Starting at $53,304/year

Additional Pay:  License Stipend $4,000/year

Applicable Bilingual Stipend $1,500/year

Other Pay:           Business Mileage Reimbursement
